Getting some very heavy rain in Puerto Aventuras the last couple days (October 1-2, 2017).
The image below shows that about 2 inches of rain fell on October 1, 2017. And about 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in just the first half of October 2, 2017.
It has been raining almost non-stop since early October 1, 2017 as seen below.
The potential storm outlook from
Servicio Meteorologico Nacional on October 1, 2017 highlights the Riviera Maya as at risk of very heavy rains.
And the satellite weather map from this morning also shows the unsettled weather is due to a trough of low pressure in the area.
And finally, the National Hurricane Center is also monitoring the area for a slight risk of the development of a tropical cyclone.
So it looks to continue to be a wet day on October 2, 2017 (and maybe longer)....so make sure you have your umbrella, rain jacket, and boots if you venture out.
The GOES-16 satellite images show this very active weather over the Riviera Maya region.
